Itinerary

  • Welcome to Delhi! On arrival in Delhi, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation, The Imperial, one of the city’s most iconic and historic hotels. Built in 1931, this grand property is a masterpiece of architectural design, seamlessly blending Victorian, colonial, and art deco influences.

Step into a world of timeless elegance as you enter the hotel’s expansive, high-ceilinged rooms adorned with polished marble floors, intricately carved Burma teak and rosewood furniture, and luxurious furnishings. Every corner of The Imperial reflects a bygone era of opulence, offering a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. Beyond its interiors, the hotel’s beautifully manicured gardens provide a peaceful retreat from the energy of Delhi’s bustling streets. Lush greenery, shaded pathways, and elegant courtyards create an oasis of calm, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.

The Imperial is also famed for its extraordinary collection of 18th and 19th-century artworks, displayed along its grand corridors. This remarkable collection has earned it the title of ‘Museum Hotel,’ making a stay here as much an artistic and cultural experience as it is a luxurious one. Whether you are admiring the historical artwork, relaxing in the serene surroundings, or indulging in the hotel’s world-class dining and spa facilities, The Imperial promises an unforgettable introduction to Delhi.

  • Spend a full day discovering the contrasts that define Delhi. Begin in Old Delhi, where the narrow, winding lanes of Chandni Chowk pulse with life. This historic marketplace, established by the Mughals, is a maze of crowded alleyways filled with spice merchants, textile traders, and street food vendors selling some of the city’s most famous delicacies. Experience the old-world charm of this quarter with a rickshaw ride through its bustling streets or a visit to Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques, where the red sandstone and white marble domes stand as a testament to Mughal architectural brilliance.

From here, transition to New Delhi, a stark contrast with its wide boulevards, grand government buildings, and leafy avenues designed by British architect Edwin Lutyens in the early 20th century. Visit India Gate, the imposing war memorial honouring Indian soldiers, and take in the impressive sight of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India. As you explore, you’ll pass embassies, elegant gardens, and landmarks that reflect Delhi’s colonial past. Beyond these two distinct halves of the city, you’ll also find hidden gems - from the ancient Qutub Minar, a towering 12th-century minaret, to Humayun’s Tomb, a stunning precursor to the Taj Mahal. Whether you are delving into centuries of history, tasting local flavours, or witnessing the seamless blend of old and new, a day in Delhi is a journey through time, filled with endless discoveries.

  • Set off on a five-hour drive to Agra, a city steeped in history and home to some of India’s most remarkable architectural wonders. While Agra boasts an array of impressive historical sites, it is the Taj Mahal that draws visitors from around the world, its white marble beauty standing as an enduring symbol of love and devotion.

Your accommodation, Amarvilas, offers an unparalleled experience of this breathtaking monument. Designed to maximise its proximity to the Taj Mahal, the resort allows you to enjoy private, uninterrupted views of this masterpiece from the comfort of your room. Whether at sunrise or under the moonlight, the ever-changing hues of the marble create a mesmerising spectacle, making your stay truly special. Amarvilas itself is a destination in its own right. Inspired by Moorish and Mughal architecture, the resort evokes the grandeur of a bygone era, transporting you to a time of emperors and princely courts. Ornate archways, rich interiors, and handcrafted details reflect the artistry of the region, while the terraced lawns, cascading fountains, serene pools, and elegant pavilions create a sense of refined luxury.

After settling in, take a moment to soak in the ambience, whether from your private balcony overlooking the Taj Mahal or while unwinding in the resort’s beautifully designed spaces. The combination of world-class hospitality and a front-row seat to one of the world's greatest landmarks makes your stay at Amarvilas an unforgettable part of your journey through India.

  • Spend the day exploring Agra’s rich history with a knowledgeable local guide, delving into the stories and architectural marvels that define this legendary city. Begin with a visit to the Taj Mahal, one of the world’s most celebrated monuments. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this exquisite white marble mausoleum is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Admire the intricate marble inlay work, delicate calligraphy, and the symmetrical gardens that enhance its ethereal beauty. Whether viewed in the soft morning light or under the midday sun, the Taj Mahal’s presence is both striking and unforgettable.

Continue to Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fortress that once served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors. Within its walls lie a series of palaces, courtyards, and ornate chambers, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of Mughal rule. It was here that Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son, Aurangzeb, in his final years. From his balcony in the Musamman Burj, he spent his days gazing at the distant Taj Mahal, longing for the love he had immortalised in stone. Later, take a short drive to Fatehpur Sikri, a strikingly well-preserved Mughal city that was briefly the capital of Emperor Akbar’s empire. Now an abandoned ghost city, its grand mosques, palaces, and courtyards stand frozen in time, offering an evocative look at a once-thriving royal court. Stroll through its wide courtyards and intricate archways as your guide shares the stories of its brief but fascinating history.

In the afternoon, return to Amarvilas, where you have time to unwind and enjoy the resort’s luxurious facilities. Perhaps take a dip in the serene pool, indulge in a rejuvenating spa treatment, or simply relax in your room with uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal. Whether you choose to explore further or enjoy some quiet reflection, this is the perfect way to round off a remarkable day in Agra.

  • Set off on a scenic five-and-a-half-hour drive to Amanbagh, a secluded retreat nestled in Rajasthan’s Alwar region. As you travel through the rugged landscape of sandy plains and craggy hills, the journey offers glimpses of rural life, from traditional villages to nomadic herders tending their livestock. The dry, dramatic terrain of this part of Rajasthan reflects its historic past, where ancient forts and palaces stand as remnants of a royal legacy.

In striking contrast to its surroundings, Amanbagh is a lush oasis of greenery, enclosed within a grand walled compound. Towering palm trees, fragrant eucalyptus, and fruit orchards create an atmosphere of serenity, making it a perfect escape from the arid expanse beyond. Once the site of royal hunting expeditions, this former Mughal encampment has been transformed into a luxurious retreat that pays homage to its regal past. Designed in the style of a modern-day Mughal palace, Amanbagh blends traditional elegance with contemporary comfort. Its suites and pavilions, featuring domed cupolas, intricately carved sandstone, and spacious private courtyards, reflect the architectural grandeur of the Mughal era. The interiors are adorned with rich textiles, handcrafted furnishings, and high vaulted ceilings, creating an ambience of refined luxury.

Upon arrival, take time to explore the resort’s tranquil grounds, unwind by the pool, or enjoy a refreshing welcome drink as you settle into your palatial surroundings. Whether admiring the intricate design details, indulging in a wellness treatment, or simply relaxing amidst the peaceful gardens, Amanbagh offers an experience of royal indulgence in the heart of Rajasthan.

  • Make the most of your time at Amanbagh by choosing from a range of carefully curated activities, designed to immerse you in the region’s history, culture, and natural beauty. Set out on a historical or cultural excursion, visiting ancient forts, temples, and traditional farming hamlets that offer insight into Rajasthan’s rich heritage. Wander through nearby villages, where you can observe local artisans at work, visit bustling markets, and experience the warmth of rural hospitality.

For nature lovers, there are plenty of ways to explore the surrounding landscapes. Take a guided nature walk through the rugged hills, keeping an eye out for local wildlife, or embark on a birdwatching excursion to spot some of the many species that thrive in this area. For a more adventurous experience, head out on a wildlife safari, where you may encounter leopards, antelope, and other native species in their natural habitat. A boat ride on the lake offers a peaceful way to soak in the scenery, especially at sunrise or sunset when the golden light reflects off the water. There are many ways to explore the region - venture out on foot, by bicycle, or for a more traditional experience, ride through the landscape on horseback or camel. For those looking to cover more ground, travel in a car or an open jeep, allowing you to take in the dramatic terrain in comfort.

Alternatively, you may choose to simply unwind and take full advantage of Amanbagh’s luxurious amenities. Spend a leisurely afternoon by the pool, indulge in a rejuvenating spa treatment, or relax in your private courtyard, taking in the peaceful atmosphere.

  • Take a two-hour drive to Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, known as the Pink City for its stunning rose-hued architecture. As you arrive at your accommodation, the legendary Rambagh Palace, you will be welcomed with a traditional royal greeting – a shower of fragrant petals and a garland of fresh flowers, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay.

Originally built in 1835, Rambagh Palace was once the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur before being transformed into a magnificent heritage hotel. Walking through its grand entrance is like stepping into a bygone era of regal splendour, where history and luxury blend seamlessly. The palace’s architecture reflects a stunning fusion of Mughal and Rajasthani styles, with intricate latticework, sweeping archways, and magnificent domed pavilions.

Inside, the elegantly appointed rooms and suites are adorned with rich fabrics, handcrafted furnishings, and opulent decor. Marbled corridors lead past exquisite objects d’art, antique chandeliers, and intricately carved pillars, each telling a story of the palace’s royal past. The lush ornamental gardens, with their manicured lawns and flowing fountains, provide a serene escape from the bustling city beyond. Beyond its breathtaking design, Rambagh Palace offers an unparalleled experience of royal living. Whether you choose to enjoy a traditional high tea on the veranda, relax with a spa treatment inspired by ancient wellness rituals, or take an evening stroll through the illuminated courtyards, every moment here is steeped in elegance and heritage.

  • Spend the day exploring Jaipur, a city of vibrant colours, grand palaces, and rich history. Known as the Pink City, Jaipur is a fascinating blend of Rajput and Mughal influences, where centuries-old traditions meet bustling markets and lively streets.

Begin with a visit to the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, one of Jaipur’s most recognisable landmarks. This striking five-storey façade, with its delicate honeycomb of latticed windows and intricately carved balconies, was designed to allow the women of the royal court to observe the bustling streets below without being seen. The palace’s unique design ensures a constant breeze flows through its chambers, offering a welcome reprieve from Rajasthan’s heat.

Next, explore the City Palace, a vast complex of courtyards, gardens, and palatial buildings that reflect a seamless blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Home to the former ruling family, parts of the palace still serve as a royal residence, while the rest houses museums displaying an extraordinary collection of royal costumes, ancient weaponry, and beautifully preserved artefacts. Admire the intricately decorated gateways, the grand courtyards, and the ornate halls, each telling a story of Jaipur’s regal past.

A highlight of the day is the journey to Amber Fort, a stunning hilltop fortress overlooking the rugged Aravalli hills. Traditionally, visitors ascend to the fort on the back of an elephant, just as the Maharajas once did, making for a memorable experience. The fort itself is a masterpiece of sandstone and marble, with intricately carved walls, mirror-inlaid halls, and sweeping views of Maota Lake below. Wander through the grand courtyards, the elaborately decorated Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), and the hidden passageways that once housed the royal family and their courtiers.

After a day of exploring Jaipur’s architectural wonders and rich heritage, return to your accommodation, perhaps stopping at a local market along the way to browse for traditional textiles, jewellery, or handicrafts that reflect Rajasthan’s exquisite craftsmanship.

  • Enjoy a leisurely day, allowing yourself time to unwind and take in the elegant surroundings of your hotel. Wander through its peaceful gardens, a lush retreat that serves as a haven for birdlife, where the gentle rustling of trees and birdsong provide a soothing escape from the energy of the city. Take a refreshing dip in the pool, bask in the sun on a comfortable lounger, or find a shaded spot to relax with a book.

For those looking to stay active, the hotel offers a range of facilities to enjoy at your own pace. Take a gentle jog along the dedicated track, challenge yourself to a round on the mini-golf course, or engage in a friendly game of croquet on the manicured lawns. Whether you prefer relaxation or light activity, this is the perfect opportunity to savour the refined atmosphere of your accommodation.

If you’re in the mood to explore, Jaipur’s bustling bazaars offer a treasure trove of shopping opportunities. The city is famed for its exquisite textiles, shimmering gemstones, intricate carpets, and handcrafted souvenirs, making it an ideal place for finding unique keepsakes or gifts. Lose yourself in the vibrant alleyways of Johari Bazaar, known for its fine jewellery, or visit Bapu Bazaar for block-printed fabrics, leather goods, and colourful Rajasthani handicrafts. The markets are a feast for the senses, where the aroma of street food mingles with the vibrant displays of traditional artistry.

Whether you choose to spend the day unwinding in the comfort of your hotel or immersing yourself in Jaipur’s rich shopping scene, this is the perfect way to round off your time in the Pink City.

  • Transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Jaipur is a short 45-minute flight from Delhi and is well connected with international destinations such as Dubai and Bangkok. During the high season, there are around six commercial flights daily between Jaipur and Delhi, offering flexible travel options.
