How We Work

When you start to research a trip to India, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the seemingly endless possibilities. At India Unbound, we’ve made this process easy. To see India, we simply need you to tell us relevant information about yourself and the type of travel experience you are looking for - whether it’s a wish list of places you want to visit, a style of travel, a particular interest or theme that you want to explore, or all of these factors. Using this information, we curate a custom made India private tour just for you. It’s that simple.

Plan Your India Itinerary

  • People travel to India for a wide variety of reasons. If you have a special interest like textiles, have a specific festival that you want to attend (such as Holi or Diwali), or even a particular destination that is sentimental to you, please let us know. This information is critical for us when planning your dream India private tour.

  • Are you travelling with young children, your partner, someone with mobility issues, or as a part of a larger special interest group? We tailor our tours to ensure that each one of your group members enjoy themselves during their time in India, so be sure to let us know.

  • Do you have a specific set of travel dates in mind? The weather may influence the ideal destination. Although India’s vast geography and varied topography produce a wide range of weather conditions, generally speaking, India has four seasons.

Winter in India - Winter runs from December to February, with mild temperatures and minimal rainfall.
Summer in India - Summer is from April to June, when the weather becomes progressively warmer.
Monsoon - June and gradually sweeps north, bringing heavy rain and relief from the heat in most parts of the country. Rains subside by the end of August.
Post-Monsoon - Post-monsoon is the period between monsoon and winter, from September to November. Most parts of the country do not receive substantial rainfall during this time.

When thinking about the best time to travel in India, it’s best to think about North and Central India, Far North India, Kerala and South India separately.

  • India is the seventh largest country in the world, and is home to 28 states and 8 Union territories in the country. Needless to say, it’s big. We would recommend not trying to squeeze too much into one itinerary, so please let us know if you have specific places on your bucket list.

  • Many of our suggested itineraries offer a mix of private vehicles, trains and domestic flights, but we can tailor this based on how you like to travel. In addition, we like to get an idea of your accommodation preferences in advance. India offers a wide range of accommodation options for tourists, such as heritage hotels, homestays, boutique hotels and more. Be sure to let us know if you prefer 3, 4 or 5 star accommodation, and we can advise which options would suit you best.

  • Are you particularly fond of yoga? Fancy yourself as a bit of a history buff? Maybe you’ve got seeing tigers on your bucket list? Please don’t hesitate to get as detailed as possible with your India wish list. The more information we know, the better equipped we are to bring your dream itinerary to life.
