Delhi - Ranthambhore National Park - Bundi - Kota - Bhainsorgarh - Bijaipur - Deogarh - Kumbalgarh - Udaipur - Dungapur - Ahmedabad

On the hunt for an offbeat Rajasthan tour without the crowds? James Tod arrived in India in 1799 as an officer of the British Raj. Over 22 years, he travelled and researched widely, eventually publishing “Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan” - one of the earliest studies of Rajasthan and a rich insight into its people and traditions. While Tod’s travels took him cross-country on elephant and horseback, we retrace his journey through eastern Rajasthan. Including visits to Bundi, Kota, Bhainsorgarh and Chittorgarh - all in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle - we will stay in many of the same palaces and forts, now splendidly restored heritage hotels. Tod’s seminal work offers us the perfect framework to explore these lesser-known parts of Rajasthan.

Trip Highlights

Wander through Bundi’s cobblestone laneways and bustling bazaars, where blue-and-whitewashed houses, intricate havelis, and vibrant street markets showcase the town’s rich heritage and traditional craftsmanship

Explore the historic grandeur of Bhainsorgarh Fort and Chittorgarh Fort, where Rajput grand palaces, towering gateways, and ancient temples showcase Rajasthan’s rich heritage and architectural brilliance

Embark on a safari in Ranthambhore National Park, where diverse landscapes, ancient ruins, and expert-guided trails offer the chance to spot Bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, crocodiles, and more
