Discover the wilds of Ranthambore, the magic of Udaipur, the forts and palaces of Jaipur, the art and sculpture of the temples of Khajuraho, the spiritual experiences at Varanasi and wonder of the world at Agra.

     

    A journey of sheer opulence as you discover the art, culture, history and wildlife of North India.

    Visit the majestic Mehrangarh Fort and one of the finest examples of architectural brilliance at the Jaswant Thad in Jodhpur. Roam through the history of 22 maharanas at the City Palace in Jaipur. Go on safari like the former Maharajas at Ranthambore National Park.

    The fabulous rail journey takes in the UNESCO World Heritage listed temples of Khajuraho, visits one of India’s most sacred sights at the Holy bathing ghats of Varanasi, and discovers the gems of Agra with visits to Agra Fort and the sublime Taj Mahal.

  • Day 1 Delhi

    You will be met and transferred to Safdarjung Station where a traditional welcome awaits on board the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels. You will be escorted to your private saloon, where you can settle in and take in your opulent surroundings. Later, depart for your first stop – Jodhpur.

  • Day 2 Jodhpur

    Arriving into Jodhpur, begin your exploration at one of India’s most spectacular sites – the powerful Mehrangarh Fort. Afterwards, visit another example of Jodhpur’s architectural brilliance, Jaswant Thada; constructed of thin and highly polished intricately carved sheets of white marble. Later, you may choose to visit the train’s on board spa, or simply enjoy the view from the train’s windows.

  • Day 3 Udaipur

    The ‘Venice of India’ – Udaipur, holds stage as one of India’s truly seductive cities. Visit the City Palace with its complex of several palaces built by 22 different Maharanas. The train then proceeds to Chittorgarh Fort, which offers the traveller an insight into the life of the great Rajput rulers. Victory Tower is one of the fort’s main attractions, as is the Palace of Queen Padmini.

  • Day 4 Jaipur

    In bygone days Ranthambore was the scene of royal hunting parties. Today, it is famous for its tigers and is one of the best places in the country to see these majestic predators in the wild. Visit the park, before the train continues onto Jaipur, popularly known as India’s `Pink City’. Later, ascend Amber Fort in the outskirts of Jaipur on an elephant, visit the City Palace and the famous Palace of Winds.

  • Day 5 Khajuraho

    A local guide will take you to see the significant monuments of Khajuraho, including the Eastern Jain and Hindu temples, which are scattered throughout the area.  At the Western Group of temples, the main shrine soars 31 metres high, and is in an almost perfect state of preservation.

  • Day 6 Varanasi

    Why not start the day with a traditional Indian bed tea and enjoy the scenery passing by from your private saloon windows? The train’s staff will be happy to bring it to you! Disembark and explore Varanasi today.  A holy site for Hindus and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Varanasi has a distinct feel. Narrow lane ways are crammed with shops, homes, games of cricket, cows, temples and much more. Visits to city’s ghats, Maha Aarti temples and the Buddhist Temples at Sarnath.

  • Day 7 Agra

    The train takes you to Agra today – home to the finest examples of Mughal architecture in India including its most sublime and famous monument, the Taj Mahal. Spend time at this incredible monument to love and after take a trip to nearby Agra Fort.

  • Day 8 Delhi

    Your journey aboard the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels comes to an end on arrival into Delhi.
